News: Porter contributed 16 points (7-18 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 2-4 FT), five rebounds, and two assists in 36 minutes during the Wizards' 74-62 loss versus the Kings at the Las Vegas Summer League on Sunday.
Impact: Porter averaged 19.0 points (48.4 FG, 38.9 3Pt, 68.2 FT), 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.3 blocks in six games at the Las Vegas Summer League. He did commit 2.2 turnovers per game, but overall it was a promising showing, especially when considering how much he struggled in his rookie year. While Paul Pierce and Martell Webster are currently ahead of him on the depth chart, it appears Porter will be more prepared to step in and produce when he's called upon during his sophomore season.

News: Rice contributed 24 points (8-23 FG, 1-9 3Pt, 7-7 FT), nine rebounds, two assists, and six steals in 35 minutes during the Wizards' 74-62 versus the Kings at the Las Vegas Summer League on Sunday.
Impact: Rice averaged 25.0 points (46.9 FG, 36.1 3Pt, 74.6 FT), 7.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks during six games at the Las Vegas Summer League. He also committed 3.0 turnovers per game, but he was still one of the top performers in summer-league play. If he can continue to fill it up offensively like he has this summer, it's possible he'll be able to earn some time in his sophomore season.

News: Porter recorded 27 points (10-22 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-7 FT), five rebounds, three assists, and one block in 38 minutes during the Wizards' 95-94 win versus the Spurs at the Las Vegas Summer League on Saturday.
Impact: Porter again played well, and he should see heavy minutes in the Wizards' semifinal game on Sunday as they look to advance to the Las Vegas Summer League championship game.
Sat. July 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Rice recorded 36 points (11-21 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 8-13 FT), 11 rebounds, three assists, and four steals in 39 minutes during the Wizards' 95-94 win versus the Spurs at the Las Vegas Summer League on Saturday.
Impact: Rice did commit three turnovers, but he had a sensational showing in the Wizards' double overtime win. He also hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer to send the game into the second overtime after missing a key free-throw on the previous possession. Expect him to continue to see heavy minutes in the Las Vegas Summer League semifinals on Sunday.

News: Gooden re-signed with the Wizards on Friday, Monumental Network reports. "The addition of Drew was a big part of our success late last season and we are excited to have him back with us," Wizards' President Ernie Grunfeld said. "His skills will help to solidify our front court rotation and his experience will help us continue to grow as a team."
Impact: Gooden was a pleasant surprise in 22 games for Washington last season, averaging 8.3 points and 5.2 rebounds in 18.0 minutes per game. The veteran signed a pair of ten-day deals before signing for the rest of the season on March 18. He was a regular in the playoff rotation and posted 12 points and 13 rebounds in the Wizards' Game 1 victory over Indiana in the Easter Conference Semifinals. The terms of Gooden's deal have not yet been released.

News: Gooden has re-signed with the Washington Wizards.
Impact: The 12-year NBA veteran originally signed a 10-day contract with Washington on Feb. 26, and eventually signed for the remainder of the season on March 18. The 6-foot-10 Gooden appeared in 22 regular season games for Washington last season, averaging 8.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest. Over 10 playoff games, Gooden averaged 3.4 points and 4.2 rebounds.

News: Seraphin will remain with the Wizards for the 2014-15 season, Sportando reports.
Impact: Seraphin signed a $3.8 million qualifying offer with Washington after no other teams expressed much interest in the backup big man. The Wizards have been pretty aggressive in free agency, retaining Marcin Gortat and bringing in Kris Humphries and Paul Pierce to add to the frontcourt mix. It seems like a long shot at this point that Seraphin ever realizes the fantasy potential he used to flash with Washington back when the team was one of the worst in the league.

News: Porter posted 14 points (5-10 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, and two steals in 31 minutes during the Wizards' 78-67 win versus the Heat at the Las Vegas Summer League on Thursday.
Impact: Porter started at small forward, and he's now averaged 17.8 points (52.7 FG, 62.5 3Pt, 72.7 FT), 6.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in four games at the Las Vegas Summer League. Expect him to receive sufficient playing time going forward in the tournament as he looks to improve his game heading into his sophomore season.

News: Rice recorded 22 points (7-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 8-13 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 33 minutes during the Wizards' 78-67 win versus the Heat at the Las Vegas Summer League on Thursday.
Impact: Rice started at shooting guard and has averaged 22.5 points (50.0 FG, 35.3 3Pt, 69.6 FT), 6.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game during four games at the Las Vegas Summer League. News: The Washington Wizards have officially signed Pierce.
Impact: Pierce, who turns 37 in October, spent 15 seasons with the Boston Celtics before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets last season. Pierce averaged a career-low 13.5 points last season in his first year with the Nets. But he is a 10-time All-Star who has gained a reputation as one of the best big-moment players in the league

News: The Washington Wizards have acquired center DeJuan Blair in a sign-and-trade deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
Impact: The 6-foot-7 Blair averaged 6.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in 78 games in his only season with Dallas. He spent his first four seasons with San Antonio and has career averages of 7.5 points and 5.6 rebounds.
Wed. July 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Blair signed a three-year, $6 million deal with the Mavericks on Wednesday, before he was sent to the Wizards via sign-and-trade, Yahoo! Sports reports.
Impact: Blair played his typical modest role in Dallas last season, averaging 6.4 points (on 53.4 percent shooting), 4.7 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 0.8 steals in 15.6 minutes. With two frontcourt options to consider behind starters Marcin Gortat and Nene Hilario -- namely, Kevin Seraphin and Kris Humphries -- a similar role may be entrusted to the 6-7, 265 Blair.
Wed. July 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Blair will be sent to Washington in a sign-and-trade, which will be finalized Wednesday, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.
Impact: Blair signed a deal for the minimum with Dallas last season and developed into a major contributor down the stretch in the Mavs' frontcourt. Dallas didn't have the cap room to retain his services, so the Wizards stayed busy, after already brining in veteran Paul Pierce this offseason. With Nene and Marcin Gortat already in the fold, it's doubtful that Blair will see enough minutes to be a solid fantasy contributor, but he has the skill to take advantage of an injury if one were to occur ahead of him on the depth chart.

News: Trevor Ariza will join the Rockets as part of a three-team trade also involving the Pelicans and Wizards. Houston will send center Omer Asik, forward Omri Casspi and cash considerations to New Orleans. Washington will receive center Melvin Ely and a trade exception as part of Tuesday's trade, in which the Wizards will sign Ariza before sending him to Houston. The Rockets also get forward Alonzo Gee, guard Scotty Hopson and a 2015 first-round draft pick from New Orleans.
Impact: Ely has averaged 5.3 points and 3.2 rebounds for his career.
Tue. July 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Humphries has agreed to a three-year, $13 million deal with the Wizards, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports. The contract includes a player option for the third year.
Impact: The deal will be a sign-and-trade, sending Humphries to his fourth team in four seasons. He appeared in 69 games for the struggling Celtics last season, posting 8.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 19.9 minutes per game. Signing Humphries at just over $4 million per year is an excellent deal for Washington, as the 29-year-old is just two seasons removed from averaging 13.8 points and 11.0 boards for the Nets.
July 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Ely will be dealt to the Wizards as part of the sign-and-trade for Trevor Ariza, David Aldridge of TNT reports.
Impact: Including Ely is just a formality in the deal, as his contract is unguaranteed and he'll almost certainly be waived. The Wizards will also receive a $8.5 million trade exception from the Rockets.
Sat. July 12, 2014 | STATS
News: Pierce is on the move for the second straight summer, this time from Brooklyn to the Washington Wizards. The deal is for the mid-level exception, which is about $5.3 million for next season, and includes a player option in the second year of the contract.
Impact: Pierce averaged a career-low 13.5 points last season in his first year with the Nets after 15 years with the Boston Celtics.
Sat. July 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Pierce agreed to a two-year, $11 million deal with the Wizards on Saturday, ESPN.com reports.
Impact: The contract includes a player option after the 2014-15 season. Pierce drew interest from the Mavericks and Lakers, but the Wizards moved quickly to sign him after losing Trevor Ariza earlier Saturday to the Rockets.
Thu. July 10, 2014 | STATS
News: Gortat has signed his five-year, $60 million contract to remain with the Washington Wizards.

Gortat posted a picture of himself signing the papers on his Twitter page, writing that it was the ''best day of my life!!!" Gortat agreed to the deal on July 1, reaffirming his desire to remain with the Wizards after helping lead the club to its first playoff berth since 2008.
