News: Love is expected to play in Monday's preseason game against the Bulls, Bob Finnan of The News-Herald reports.
Impact: Love missed Friday's preseason game for some added rest to keep him fresh, but he is expected to rejoin the lineup for Monday's contest against the Bulls. He was prevalant in two of the four preseason games he did play in, scoring 25 in each versus just eight and five in the other two games. There appears to be no lingering effects of the sore neck that caused him to leave Wednesday's preseason game, and he should be fine for the start of the regular season.

News: Irving (ankle) returned after missing two preseason games and had 23 points (8-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five assists, and three blocks in 29 minutes in a loss to the Mavericks on Friday.
Impact: Irving did not appear to be limited by the ankle injury. Kevin Love (rest) did not play in the game, so we still haven't seen the Cavaliers' Big Three play together since the opener against Maccabi Tel Aviv. It will be interesting to see how the Cavaliers dole out offensive opportunities on a game-by-game basis between their stars.

News: James will sit out the preseason finale Wednesday against the Grizzlies, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Chris Haynes reports.
Impact: This shouldn't alarm anyone, as the Cavs have looked pretty sharp during the preseason, and James undoubtedly wants to be fresh for the season opener.

News: Irving is coming back to the court after missing three games with a sprained right ankle. Irving had his ankle stepped on by teammate Anderson Varejao in practice early last week and didn't play in Brazil when Cleveland faced the Miami Heat.
Impact: Cavs coach David Blatt says Irving will play in Friday's exhibition against Dallas. Blatt says Irving "is raring to go, and that's good." Blatt isn't worried about Irving's conditioning because he played this summer with USA basketball.
Fri. Oct 17, 2014 | STATS
News: Love will not play in Friday's preseason tilt against Dallas.
Impact: Coach David Blatt wants to rest Love, who has played in all four preseason games but was bothered by a stiff neck after a collision in Wednesday night's game in Cincinnati.
Fri. Oct 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Marion (rest) will not play in Friday's exhibition game against the Mavericks.
Impact: Marion will be allowed to sit Friday's preseason game out to prepare for the long haul of the regular season. Coach David Blatt has continually given his veterans scheduled rest during training camp, so there's nothing concerning about Marion's availability for when it matters.
Fri. Oct 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Irving (ankle) will play in Friday's preseason game against the Mavericks, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Chris Haynes reports.
Impact: Irving sprained his right ankle in practice a little over a week ago, and just started practicing again later this week. Head coach David Blatt would not let Irving play in a preseason game until he practiced, but after a couple days of practice the superstar guard looks ready to go.
Fri. Oct 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Love (rest) will not play in Friday's preseason game, Joe Gabriele of the Cav's official site reports.
Impact: Love left Wednesday's preseason game early with neck soreness, but his absence in Friday's game does not appear to be related. Instead, the Cavs simply want to keep their superstars fresh and healthy for the regular season.
Wed. Oct 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Irving (ankle) took part in pregame drills Wednesday but ended up getting a DNP.
Impact: Cavs coach David Blatt said Irving would need to practice before he'd suit up in a game, as he was true to his word on Wednesday. Assuming he makes it through Thursday's practice unscathed, look for the point guard to see the court Friday against the Mavericks.
Wed. Oct 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: James (back) returned from a one-game absence to lead the Cavaliers with 26 points (9-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds, and three assists in 24 minutes in the win over the Pacers on Wednesday.
Impact: James sat out the Tuesday win over Milwaukee as was expected since Cleveland had back-to-back preseason games. He had his best offensive game of the preseason and should be picked first in many leagues.
Wed. Oct 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Love failed to return from the locker room because of a sore neck following halftime of Wednesday's game against the Pacers, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Impact: Love took a couple of hard falls in the first half, which resulted in some soreness. It doesn't look like anything too serious, and because it's preseason, it would only make sense for Cleveland to keep Love out for the rest of the game and not risk anything further. He may not play in Cleveland's next preseason game Friday if any pain continues to exist.
Wed. Oct 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Thompson (shoulder) will play Wednesday against the Pacers, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Impact: Thompson sat out practice Monday and was also held out of Tuesday's game against the Bucks. It doesn't seem like there's much to worry about here, considering he was only held out of one game. Thompson is back in the lineup and should be ready for a full game of work.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Varejao banged his knee in Tuesday's game, but coach David Blatt expects him to be available Wednesday, the Akron Beacon Journal's Jason Lloyd reports.
Impact: He was hobbled after the incident in Tuesday's exhibition, and exited the game, but it sounds like he should be fine moving forward.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Love banged knees with Jabari Parker in Tuesday's game, but coach David Blatt expects him to be available Wednesday, the Akron Beacon Journal's Jason Lloyd reports.
Impact: Love had a slight limp after the incident, but was able to play through it in Tuesday's exhibition, finishing with 25 points. Blatt said he didn't think the injury was serious, so we'll expect him to be a relatively full participant moving forward in camp.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Thompson (shoulder) will not play Tuesday against the Bucks, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Chris Haynes reports.
Impact: He was considered a game-time call, so it's not a very serious ailment. He should be ready to go for the start of the regular season.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | STATS
News: James will not play in the Cavaliers' exhibition game against Milwaukee.
Impact: With Cleveland scheduled for three preseason games in four days, coach David Blatt wants to rest his superstar Tuesday night. James is not injured and Blatt says this is "just part of our process and part of our management of how we want to approach preseason and best get him ready for the start of the season." James has been bothered by a stiff back early in training camp.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Irving (ankle) won't play in Tuesday's showdown with the Bucks, Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio reports.
Impact: This comes as no surprise, as coach David Blatt said he'd like Irving to practice before returning to game action. With the Cavs beginning a back-to-back set, Irving could also sit out Wednesday's contest, as he won't be able to practice until Thursday. The Cavs will also be without LeBron James (rest) on Tuesday, and Tristan Thompson (shoulder) is a game-time call.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Thompson (shoulder) is considered a game-time call for Tuesday's matchup with the Bucks, Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Impact: Thompson is dealing with a sore shoulder and did not take part in Monday's practice. It doesn't look to be anything serious, though, and if he doesn't play Tuesday he'll probably return Wednesday against Indiana.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: James (rest) will not play Tuesday against Milwaukee.
Impact: The Cavs stated Monday that James would miss at least one of the team's three exhibition contests this week, and it appears he's chosen to sit out Tuesday, the first game of a back-to-back. James is expected to play Wednesday when the Cavs take on Indiana in Cincinnati.
Mon. Oct 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Irving (ankle) is expected to return to practice before playing in a preseason game, Marla Ridenour of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Impact: Irving, who was at practice Monday but did not fully participate, is likely out for Tuesday's matchup with the Bucks, as well as Wednesday's game against Indiana. Barring a setback, he should return to practice later this week before potentially playing Friday versus Dallas. After the Dallas game, Cleveland hosts the Bulls on Monday (Oct. 20) and wraps up the preseason that following Wednesday (Oct. 22) in Memphis.
Mon. Oct 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: James (back) will likely sit out either the Oct. 14 preseason game against Milwaukee or the Oct. 15 game against Indiana, the Morning Journal reports. The four-time MVP has been limited to 20 minutes in the first two preseason games, partly because of the back issue.
Impact: James has been quiet in his first two preseason games, but fantasy owners shouldn't let any practice games determine his value. The Cavaliers may rest their superstar to keep him fresh throughout the season, but his overall value should be very high.
Sat. Oct 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Thompson came off the bench to score 18 points (6-10 FG, 6-7 FT) with a team-high nine rebounds in 25 minutes in the preseason overtime win against the Heat on Saturday.
Impact: Thompson played more minutes than the starter Anderson Varejao. The fourth-year Cavalier has opened the preseason well with 32 points and 22 boards in two games. He could see decent numbers whether he starts or comes off the bench.
Sat. Oct 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Waiters scored 16 points (7-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT) with three rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in 25 minutes in the overtime win against the Heat on Saturday.
Impact: Waiters continues to get shots up in the preseason with 26 attempted field goals in two tilts. His scoring numbers may continue into the regular season, but he might not provide much support from the other fantasy categories.
Sat. Oct 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Varejao started at center for the Cavaliers and provided 14 points (7-10 FG) and three boards in 20 minutes Saturday in the overtime win against the Heat.
Impact: In the preseason at least, Varejao appears to be in a time share with Tristan Thompson as the other Cavalier big who plays next to Kevin Love. He had a nice scoring output in his homecoming, but his 14-point games will be the exception rather than the rule for the new-look Cavaliers.
Sat. Oct 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: James played just 21 minutes and had seven points (2-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-7 FT) with three boards and eight assists in the preseason win over Miami in Brazil on Saturday.
Impact: James took it easy on his former teammates as the Cavaliers were able to forge an overtime win. Playing against Miami may be an emotional event in the regular season for James, but fantasy owners shouldn't suffer any worry over his low numbers from Rio.
Sat. Oct 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Love led the Cavaliers with 25 points (9-12 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 3-5 FT) in the preseason win over the Heat on Saturday. He played 26 minutes and grabbed seven boards.
Impact: Love had a relatively quiet preseason Cavalier debut against Maccabi Tel Aviv (eight points, 11 boards, four assists), but had the offensive game flowing in the win in Brazil. He was able to take more shots with Kyrie Irving (ankle) out, but should have plenty of 20-point, 10-board games in his first year in Cleveland.
Fri. Oct 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Irving (sprained right ankle) will not play Saturday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Chris Haynes reports.
Impact: Irving has stressed that the ankle sprain is not serious, despite the fact that he's been using a walking boot in Brazil. Look for him to get into preseason action in the near future, and he should be ready to go for the start of the regular season.
Thu. Oct 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Irving (ankle) sat out most of Thursday's practice and seems unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason game versus the Heat, ESPN reports.
Impact: Irving suffered a sprained right ankle after colliding with teammate Anderson Varejao during practice Tuesday. That incident resulted in Irving being sent for X-rays and an MRI, both of which fortunately revealed no damage. While Irving was seen wearing a walking boot Wednesday, he has since shed that appendage. Although he's still listed as day-to-day, it's likely that Irving will spend Saturday's exhibition outing resting his ankle on the Cavaliers' bench.
Thu. Oct 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Irving (ankle) has shed his walking boot, Ethan Skolnick of Turner Sports reports.
Impact: Irving was spotted in a boot Wednesday after suffering a right ankle injury during practice. While that may have alarmed some Cavs fans, it appears Irving will be just fine, as he's already ditched the boot one day later. Irving will not practice Thursday in Brazil, and his status is up in the air for Saturday's matchup with the Heat.
Wed. Oct 8, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Irving sprained his right ankle in practice, but says it's not serious, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Chris Haynes reports.
Impact: He was spotted wearing a walking boot in Rio De Janeiro, but this should somewhat alleviate initial concerns from owners. It seems unlikely that he would play in Saturday's preseason game against the Heat, and this is still something owners will need to monitor in the coming weeks.
Wed. Oct 8, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Irving was seen with a walking boot on his right foot, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports.
Impact: The Cavs are in Rio De Janeiro with an exhibition scheduled against the Heat in Brazil on Saturday, so we should learn more of Irving's condition as that game draws closer. It is worth approaching Irving cautiously if you are drafting in the coming days, as it's not clear what kind of injury the Cavs' starting point guard is dealing with.
Oct 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Coach David Blatt will start Tristan Thompson over Varejao at center in Sunday's exhibition against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Impact: While an official starter for the regular season is yet to be named, it would appear Thompson is the frontrunner to land the starting job. It's likely both players will start at some points this season, and both will be key factors in a much-improved Cavs' frontcourt.
Oct 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Thompson will start at center for Sunday's exhibition against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Impact: While coach David Blatt is yet to announce an official starter for the regular season, the move to start Thompson against Blatt's former Israeli club would seem to indicate he has a leg up on Anderson Varejao for the starting job. Regardless of who ends up with the starting designation, both players figure to see big minutes for the vastly improved Cavaliers, although the additions of Shawn Marion and Kevin Love could cut into both players' minutes.
