News: Jefferson declined to be a member of Team USA this summer so he could let his foot heal for the 2014-15 season, Mike Perchick of WAPT reports.
Impact: Jefferson struggled through the end of the season last year with a foot injury that he decided to play through during Charlotte's playoff series against Miami. His decision shows that the injury is still of some concern, but an entire offseason of rest will be beneficial for his 2014-15 campaign.

News: Nine years after leading the North Carolina men's basketball team to a national championship, Williams returns to the Tar Heel state as a member of the Charlotte Hornets.
Impact: "North Carolina has always been like a second home to me," Williams said Monday at an introductory news conference after signing a two-year, $14 million deal. News: Zeller has averaged 15.7 points (58.6 FG, 65.0 FT), 5.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 28 minutes during three games at the Las Vegas Summer League.
Impact: Zeller has been impressive in summer league play, and it's possible he's in line for an increased role with 2013-14 starter Josh McRoberts opting to sign with the Heat. Expect Zeller to have every opportunity to earn the starting job alongside Al Jefferson in the Hornets' frontcourt, but regardless of whether he's starting or not, he's likely to see plenty of playing time in his sophomore season. Zeller's ability to shoot and spread the floor at power forward is something the team will be looking to replace given McRoberts' departure, and the former appears to be the early favorite to land the starting job over rookie Noah Vonleh.

News: Stephenson signed a three-year, $27 million contract with the Hornets on Wednesday, ESPN reports. The contract includes a team option for the final season.
Impact: Stephenson reportedly turned down a five-year, $44 million contract offer from the Pacers when free agency opened, figuring he could get a bigger deal from another team. Despite leading the NBA in triple-doubles last season, not to mention setting career-highs in points, rebounds and assists per game, Stephenson will have to settle for a shorter deal with more money per season. His on-court antics may have played a role in the reduced market for his services, but he's still only 23 years old and figures to get plenty of playing time in Charlotte.
