Sure the Jazz stink, but Hayward can still make waves on Christmas

Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward proposes to his girlfriend on Christmas, and she say yes.

In the sports world, Christmas belongs to the NBA — specifically, the biggest stars and the biggest teams.

So how on earth did a guy averaging 16 for the worst team in the Western Conference steal the limelight from LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Durant and Dwight Howard? By doing this:

Merry Christmas to everyone out there! Hope it's a good one! Mine was especially good bc SHE SAID YES!!!! So thrilled I get to marry my best friend and such an amazing person @robynvanvliet! I love you!!!

That's Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward and new fiancée Robyn Van Vliet. Van Vliet posted the same photo to her Instagram account, with the following caption:

Soo happy I get to marry this babe .. Finally engaged to the love of my life @gdhayward

According to her Facebook page, Van Vliet graduated from a high school in Indiana in 2013 and listed herself as "In a Relationship" on Sept. 8.

Upstaging superstars is nothing new for the 23-year-old Hayward; he was the best player on the 2009-10 Butler team that made a stunning run to the NCAA championship game, his half-court, buzzer-beating attempt bouncing off the rim as time expired; had it gone in the Bulldogs would have beaten Duke and Mike Krzyzewski for the championship.
