Shannon Sharpe: Steve Kerr should have kept Klay Thompson on the court

Warriors guard Klay Thompson torched the Pacers Monday night, scoring a career-high 60 points in a rout over Indiana - but he didn't get a chance to approach some of the loftiest single-game scoring records as he sat out the fourth quarter.

Thompson was unstoppable in just 29 minutes on the court, hitting 21 of his 33 shots from the field (including eight threes). By the time the fourth quarter started, the Warriors led by an insurmountable 33 points, and no Warriors starter played more than Thompson's 29 minutes.

Thompson said after the game that he thinks he could have reached 80 points, a feat that has only been accomplished twice - by Wilt Chamberlain and Kobe Bryant.

Shannon Sharpe said on Tuesday's episode of Undisputed that Steve Kerr should have given Thompson the chance to score as many points as he could.

“You score 60 points, that’s really special. Prior to last night, there had been 63 60-point-plus performances. Wilt Chamberlain had 32. There have been 10 70-point-plus ballgames

When you’ve got it going, you don’t want nothing to get in the way.”

The Warriors, of course, paid the price for chasing history in the regular season during last year's NBA Finals. Steve Kerr probably doesn't want to make that same mistake twice.
