San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili will undergo surgery to repair a broken bone in his shooting hand and is expected to miss six to eight weeks, the San Antonio Express-News reported Wednesday.
Head coach Gregg Popovich announced the news after practice as the team prepared to host the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.
The 34-year-old, two-time All-Star broke the fifth metacarpal in his left hand late in the first half of Monday night’s loss at Minnesota when he attempted to strip the ball from forward Anthony Tolliver.
Ginobili leads the team in scoring through five games with 17.4 points per game and in field-goal percentage at 59.2 percent.
Gary Neal and rookie first-round pick James Anderson will fill in while the Argentinian recovers.
