James' wedding will be fit for a King
Back in July, we gave you our best guess as to how LeBron James’ wedding to high school sweetheart Savannah Brinson might go down, but now that the King’s big day has arrived, actual details of LeBron’s upcoming nuptials are starting to leak.
According to the New York Post’s Page Six, James and Brinson, who got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2011, are tying the knot as part of three-day affair in San Diego this weekend.
The festivities will start on Friday with a welcome barbecue, followed by the ceremony Saturday afternoon and a reception Saturday night, which will reportedly include a DJ and possibly some live music, according to the report. On Sunday, guests will be treated to a farewell brunch before heading home.
Page Six reports that the guest list is expected to be in the hundreds — "He cut the list down because he didn’t want to have 1,000 people at the wedding," a source told the paper — and will include Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Maverick Carter, Gabrielle Union, Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra, among others.
The entire weekend is being put together by celebrity wedding planner Preston Bailey, who also organized Napster founder and Facebook co-founder Sean Parker's $10 million wedding. Bailey’s portfolio is pretty extravagant, and it’s probably safe to assume LeBron’s wedding will be no different.
Really, the only downside to James and Brinson’s over-the-top I-do's might be that the wedding seems to be forcing them to take a vacation from their vacation. On Sunday, James was spotted hanging out with Jerry Jones and Hulk Hogan at the Cowboys game, and just last week, he and Brinson were vacationing in the south of France (after going to Switzerland before that).
How he’s supposed to top this on the honeymoon is beyond my comprehension:
Our invitation to James’ royal wedding weekend in San Diego seems to have gotten lost in the mail, so we won’t be there when James ties the knot on Saturday. But as details continue to roll in, we’ll be sure to update you on the biggest NBA wedding of the year.
