The Detroit Pistons' No. 8 pick in this June's draft is arguably their greatest asset not named Andre Drummond. That's why it comes as a bit of a surprise to hear that Stan Van Gundy and Co. are shopping it.
Reports from ESPN's Chad Ford that the selection slot is "being shopped around” come with little elaboration. Perhaps the Pistons are just doing their due diligence, and making sure to check what's available on the trade market before committing to the draft. Or, maybe they're looking to move up on the board.
Coach Van Gundy has been scouting European prospects Kristaps Porzingis and Mario Hezonja in recent days, and it's possible that he has honed in on either prospect without the confidence that they'll be available when it's his turn to draft.
Stay tuned as we find out more about this development.
