Report: Lakers meet with Dunleavy about head coaching position

After getting the No. 7 overall pick in Tuesday's NBA Draft lottery, the Lakers plan to start their aggresive search for a new head coach and it appears Dunleavy has emerged as an immediate candidate for the position.
Dunleavy, 60, won't be new to the Los Angeles market as a head coach if he ends up filling the position. During his 17-year coaching career he has stints with both the Lakers and Clippers, so he will be familiar with the big-market expectations and stresses like dealing with coaching the Lakers' franchise player, Kobe Bryant.
While his regular-season winning percentage falls below .500 at a .461, he does have a winning playoff record at 38-33 in seven playoff appearences. Dunleavy had a trip to the Finals in 1991, when the Lakers lost to Michael Jordan and the Bulls. He also won Coach of the Year honors with Portland in 1999.
