Houston Rockets guard Kyle Lowry has been admitted to a New York hospital for fever and abdominal distress, KRIV-TV reported Friday.

According to the team, Lowry underwent an abdominal diagnostic laparoscopic which was negative.

"Will be out of commission for a while!! Damn this sucks!!" Lowry wrote on his Twitter account Friday.

The Rockets have listed the star point guard as day to day.

Lowry is the team's second leading scorer, averaging 15.9 points per game, while he leads the team in assists and steals per game.

Houston, currently sitting ninth in the Western Conference standings, is in the middle of a five-game road trip. The team faces the New Jersey Nets in Newark on Saturday.
