Lakers are so quick to praise D’Angelo Russell they forget an icon

D'Angelo Russell wasn't really THIS close to the Lakers' rookie scoring record.

D’Angelo Russell had the breakout game every Lakers fan had hoped to see ever since the team drafted him No. 2 overall last year. The rookie point guard had 39 points in LA’s 107-102 win over the Nets on Tuesday.

And Russell enjoyed every moment of his career game, especially after this critical three that virtually sealed the win.

So of course the Lakers twitter account was quick to praise Russell.

Quite the accomplishment, D’Angelo. One problem, Elgin Baylor had 55 points as a rookie.
