Charlie Villanueva says he would ‘love to come back’ to Dallas

Before the start of the 2014-15 season, most thought Charlie Villanueva's time in the NBA had passed.

The Mavericks thought otherwise, and took a gamble on the veteran forward. Villanueva responded by giving the Mavericks good minutes, and by knocking down 37.6 percent of his attempts from behind the arc.

Villanueva will be a free agent this offseason, and it's unclear whether the Mavericks will want him back. Villanueva, though, sounds open to the idea.

Here's more from Tim MacMahon at ESPN.com:

"I would love to come back,” Villanueva said during his exit interview after the Mavs’ season ended. “It felt like this organization gave me an opportunity, gave me a chance, took a chance on me. I'm a loyal and I would love to be back, but that's not my decision. Hopefully management and my agent can work something out.”

“I like my role,” Villanueva said. “I embraced it, I accepted it. I've been in the league for 10 years and been coached by nine different coaches. I would love to experience the same coach again next year, but we'll see."
