The season is ticking away. See where your team will be standing when the clock stops in the latest edition of the Hit List.
Hit List
29. Cleveland Cavs (Last Week #29) ¿ Here¿s another stat justifying the Cavs¿ placement in the Hit List basement. The Cavs have trailed by 10 or more points in 50 of the 69 total games they¿ve played this year.
28. Denver (Last Week #28) ¿ We say congratulations to for finally playing more than 30 minutes in a game for the very first time this season.
27. Miami (Last Week #27) ¿ Now that Alvin Gentry has been canned, is there a coach in the L more ready for free agency this summer than Riles?
26. Toronto (Last Week #26) ¿ We love the nickname ¿T-Dot¿ for Toronto but with the way the have balled this season, the city is now deemed ¿T-Not.¿
25. LA (Last Week #25) ¿ Both Brand and Olowokandi have said they want to return from their injuries to finish out the year. Why? This whole season was spent worrying about free agency, don¿t screw that up by coming back now.
24. Chicago (Last Week #24) ¿ With the way has been balling since starting at the one, Crumbs Krause faces a tough decision this summer. Which PG will he keep?
23. Atlanta (Last Week #23) ¿ When your team has no shooting guard and LeBron James is in the draft, now is not the time to start winning ball games.
22. Memphis (Last Week #22) ¿ We can¿t applaud J-Will enough for not only cutting down his turnovers but for basically removing them from his game all together. He had a 16-dime, 0-turnover effort last week and is the main reason the Grizz are 7-3 in their last 10 games.
21. Washington (Last Week #17) ¿ MJ was fired up again, shouting at his teammates through the media. Was it really because they might not make the playoffs or because he finally realized he can¿t drop 50 every night anymore?
20. New York (Last Week #21) ¿ Is there a more hot-cold team in the Association than the >? One moment they¿re tanking, the next moment they¿re whooping on Detroit. Make up your mind already.
19. Seattle Sonics (Last Week #20) ¿ has been about as effective as a wet blanket since his trade to the Sonics, and he¿s twice as talented as incumbents James and Booth.
18. Milwaukee (Last Week #19) ¿ We¿re shocked and appalled that George Karl hasn¿t gone off on GP yet. You know, just for old time¿s sakes. Props to Karl for his 700th career coaching victory.
17. Golden State (Last Week #18) ¿ The are one of the most exciting teams in basketball to watch because it¿s all offense, all the time. Too bad for G. State that it is for their opponents, too.
16. Phoenix (Last Week #16) ¿ The feud between Charles Barkley and the is old hat, just like their playoff hopes if Phoenix continue to toil in mediocrity.
15. Indiana (Last Week #13) ¿ Indy¿s roller coaster ride is frustrating to watch, considering how much talent they have. Will they get their act together in time?
14. New Orleans (Last Week #11) ¿ The had a golden opportunity to capitalize on a slumping Eastern Conference, yet instead find themselves stuck in the mud. Can a healthy Baron drag them out?
13. Boston Celtics (Last Week #10) ¿ Losers of four straight contests now, the C¿s could use a little luck of the Irish to get things turned around.
12. New Jersey Nets (Last Week #9) ¿ They¿re falling down the charts like a true one-hit wonder or dare we say, a one-season wonder?
11. Houston Rockets (Last Week #15) ¿ Stevie Franchise gave the Rockets everything he had on Sunday against the Kings, but Clutch City fell just short. They can only hope the same thing isn¿t true when it comes to making the playoffs.
10. Orlando Magic (Last Week #14) ¿ Besides the Sixers and Pistons, T-Mac and the Magic are the only team from the East playing worth a damn. Feel the love, O-Town.
9. Utah Jazz (Last Week #12) ¿ They¿re from Utah, but their quest for an NBA title ain¿t no regular two-year Mormon mission. It¿s been nearly a 20-year odyssey.
8. Portland Trail Blazers (Last Week #7) ¿ The Blazers are poised for a mini-slump with catalyst Scottie Pippen out three weeks recovering from minor surgery.
7. Minnesota T-Wolves (Last Week #6) ¿ Taking after their team name, the T-Wolves are scratching and clawing for that #4 seed and the precious home-court advantage in round one of the playoffs.
6. Philly 76ers (Last Week #5) ¿ The Illadelph is tied for the L¿s best record since the break, but the Bad Boys of Detroit slapped them a swift reality check right across the face. That one left a mark.
5. Detroit Pistons (Last Week #8) ¿ The Pistons rolled up a Philly blunt and smoked the Sixers on national TV. The victory earned them back the title of ¿Beasts of the Least.¿
4. L.A. Lakers (Last Week #4) ¿ They still can¿t consistently beat the top dogs out West, but the Lake Show is still better than any team hailing from the East.
3. Sacramento Kings (Last Week #3) ¿ Even with both Peja and C-Webb getting dinged up in Sunday¿s win over the Rockets, this team more than any other doesn¿t fear an injury to any of its players.
2. San Antonio Spurs (Last Week #2) ¿ The Spurs are still humming along like a well-oiled machine since the All-Star break. Manu Ginobili is poised to become both an international sensation and household name in this year¿s playoffs.
1. Dallas Mavs (Last Week #1) ¿ Unlike some college teams dealing with the Madness, we don¿t foresee any major upsets on the horizon for this particular No. 1 seed, especially after their huge comeback win over Phoenix.
