NBA Power Rankings: Week 18

It’s setting up to be an incredible finish. Battles for seeding and a spot in the Western Conference playoffs will likely go down to the wire, LeBron James and Kevin Durant are putting on a spectacular show in the race for MVP and the Heat continue to push the Pacers for the East's top spot. Heck, even other teams out East, like Toronto, Chicago and Brooklyn, are finally proving worthy of the postseason.

Miami and Houston hold their top 3 spots in the rankings despite losses this past week. The Heat are on a fiery run, proving they are the most powerful team in the league with, yes, still the most powerful player. The Rockets’ home win against the Heat wasn’t enough to take No. 1, but they deserve to maintain the No. 2 hole. While the Pacers have been winning, they’ve been less impressive than the resurgent Oklahoma City Thunder, the new No. 3. Here's how the rest of the league shapes up entering the final 20 games:

OKC is more than just a pretty offensive face. Sure, Kevin Durant and the Thunder’s scoring gets all the attention, but the defense separates them. OKC is ranked No. 4 in the league for defensive efficiency, points allowed per 100 possessions.
