News: Ariza will join the Rockets as part of a three-team trade also involving the Pelicans and Wizards. Houston will send center Omer Asik, forward Omri Casspi and cash considerations to New Orleans. Impact: Washington will receive center Melvin Ely and a trade exception as part of Tuesday's trade, in which the Wizards will sign Ariza before sending him to Houston. The Rockets also get forward Alonzo Gee, guard Scotty Hopson and a 2015 first-round draft pick from New Orleans. Ariza averaged 14.4 points last season for Washington. Asik averaged 5.8 points for Houston, a year after averaging a career-best 10.1 points.(STATS, 5:25pm)

News: Ariza has agreed to a four-year, $32 million deal with the Rockets, Sam Amick of USA Today Sports reports. Impact: After striking out on Chris Bosh, the Rockets have moved onto Plan B and will add one of the most versatile wings in the league. An excellent defender, Ariza started 77 games for the Wizards last season, averaging 14.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.9 three-pointers per game. He also shot 45.6 percent from the field and a career-high 40.7 percent from beyond the arc. Paying Ariza an average of $8 million per season will enable the Rockets to still match Dallas' offer for swingman Chandler Parsons, though it's unknown at this time whether they intend to do so. If Parsons returns, he and Ariza would likely split time at small forward, while Parsons could slot in as a stretch-four.(RotoWire, )
