News: Casspi was released by the Pelicans on Wednesday, Marc Stein of ESPN reports. Impact: Casspi came to New Orleans as part of the Omer Asik deal, and, as expected, will be released. If he clears waivers, he should have no problem finding a new team after performing consistently off the bench for the Rockets last season. News: Trevor Ariza will join the Rockets as part of a three-team trade also involving the Pelicans and Wizards. Houston will send center Omer Asik, forward Omri Casspi and cash considerations to New Orleans. Impact: Washington will receive center Melvin Ely and a trade exception as part of Tuesday's trade, in which the Wizards will sign Ariza before sending him to Houston. The Rockets also get forward Alonzo Gee, guard Scotty Hopson and a 2015 first-round draft pick from New Orleans.(STATS, 5:26pm)

News: Casspi was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday, the Times-Picayune reports. Impact: Casspi moves, along with Omer Asik, from Houston to New Orleans in a three-team deal also involving the Washington Wizards and Trevor Ariza. The Pelicans gave up a protected 2015 first-round draft choice to Houston, Alonzo Gee and Scotty Hopson to Houston and also sent Melvin Ely to Washington in the deal. Casspi averaged 6.9 points and 3.7 rebounds in 18 minutes per game last season and projects to be a back up forward in New Orleans this season.(RotoWire, )
