News: Young will miss eight weeks following successful surgery on his right thumb Monday, the Lakers' official site reports. Impact: There was some belief within the Lakers that Young's initial recovery timetable of 6-to-8 weeks could be lessened to as few as four weeks. However, the organization announced after Monday's procedure that a longer absence is the preferred one. Expect Young to sit out the next two months, with a return likely by Dec. 1.(RotoWire, )

News: Young (thumb) was initially projected to miss 6-8 weeks, but coach Byron Scott said Sunday that Young's injury should only keep him out between 4-6 weeks, InsideSoCal.com reports. Impact: More will be known after Young undergoes surgery to repair the torn ligament in his right thumb Monday, but a 4-6 week timetable is much better news for prospective owners of Young in fantasy leagues. Previously, coach Byron Scott had touted Young as a Sixth Man of the Year candidate and provides lower end value for fantasy leagues, with his value coming in points, three-pointers, and free-throw percentage.(RotoWire, )
