News: Carter-Williams (shoulder) said Monday that the original diagnosis was that he'd miss six-to-nine months, meaning the injury was more serious than typical labrum surgery, The Intelligencer's Tom Moore reports. Impact: He has missed five months and a week since the May 6 operation, and has yet to scrimmage, and while Carter-Williams says he's "plenty ahead of schedule," coach Brett Brown said his starting point guard is "a ways away" from full-contact basketball. The one thing that is clear is that the two-to-four month timetable that was originally reported is bogus, and owners should now operate under the knowledge that MCW could be out for three more weeks, or, possibly longer. Carter-Williams said that if it was up to him he would already be out there, and he's just following doctor's orders, but given the fact that the Sixers clearly don't plan on competing this season, they may opt to be overly cautious with the franchise point guard. Tony Wroten will be the primary benefactor as long as Carter-Williams is out.(RotoWire, )

News: Carter-Williams (shoulder) says he feels "unbelievable," but coach Brett Brown indicated the point guard is still "a few weeks away from playing physical, 5-on-5 basketball," Tom Moore of Calkins Media reports. Impact: Carter-Williams is slightly ahead of schedule in his return from labrum surgery, but at this point his status appears bleak for the regular season opener Oct. 29 in Indianapolis. He'll likely be back in the mix in early November, and it could take a few contests for him to find his stride and return to game shape. Tony Wroten will step in as the starter for any games Carter-Williams misses, but he'll likely return to the bench upon the reigning Rookie of the Year's return.(RotoWire, )

News: Carter-Williams (shoulder) isn't likely to begin 5-on-5 work any time soon, Tom Moore of Calkins Media reports. "I still think (MCW) is still a few weeks away from full court 5-on-5," coach Brett Brown said. Impact: This comes as no surprise, as Carter-Williams is yet to participate in practices since undergoing labrum surgery back in May. While he's likely to miss most or all of the preseason, there's still a chance he'll be ready to go on opening night. At this point, Carter-Williams should be evaluated on a week-to-week basis.(RotoWire, )

News: Carter-Williams (shoulder) won't play in Wednesday's preseason game, the Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell reports. Impact: He still hasn't been cleared to scrimmage in practice, so it's no surprise he'll sit out Wednesday's exhibition. His status for the start of the regular season isn't believed to be in jeopardy, but it's worth checking on his status before drafting him in fantasy.(RotoWire, )
