News: Lin has joined the Lakers in a trade with Houston along with first- and second-round draft picks in 2015 for the rights to center Sergei Lishchuk. The Lakers made the deal official Sunday. Impact: Lin will make about $15 million this season in the last year of a deal that counts only $8 million against the salary cap. The Lakers have cap room to absorb Lin's contract. Lin averaged 12.5 points and 4.1 assists last season but lost his starting job. The Harvard player was born in Los Angeles and figures to be popular with the city's large Asian community. News: Lin is still on his way to the Los Angeles Lakers, even after the Houston Rockets failed to land coveted forward Chris Bosh in free agency. Impact: Two people with knowledge of the deal tell The Associated Press that the Rockets still plan to execute the trade that will send the point guard to Los Angeles for cash considerations. The people requested anonymity because the trade has not been officially announced. (STATS, 12:22pm)

News: Lin was traded to the Lakers on Friday, ESPN reports. Impact: Lin was traded along with a future first round pick to the Lakers. He played behind Patrick Beverley last season in Houston and his fantasy value suffered as a result. The former Rocket will now compete with Steve Nash and Kendall Marshall for playing time at point in Los Angeles. Early premonitions would likely have Lin having a better fantasy season than he did last year, even if Nash ends up starting over the newest member of the Lakers.(RotoWire, )
