News: Nelson is trending toward landing the starting point guard spot with the Mavericks, ESPN Dallas reports. While referring to Nelson as a "natural leader," coach Rick Carlisle said, "He's just got a grit and toughness about him that we really need on this team this year...His game is going to help us, but his personality is going to help us, too." Impact: During the Mavs' first practice of training camp Tuesday, Nelson wore a white jersey, hinting at the aforementioned development. With numerous offensive weapons, namely Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis, and Chandler Parsons, at his disposal, Nelson found it "weird" to see wide-open looks. However, after two seasons in which his shooting stroke suffered during the Magic's post-Dwight Howard rebuild, Nelson could revert to the career 46-percent clip from the floor that he held through his first eight years in the league. In order to hold relevance in fantasy, though, Nelson must fight off holdover Devin Harris and fellow newcomer Raymond Felton for the gig.(RotoWire, )
