News: Billups tells Yahoo Sports he is retiring after 17 NBA seasons. Impact: The 2004 NBA Finals MVP says his desire is still strong, but he can't ignore the fact that he's had a hard time staying healthy. The 37-year-old Billups has played only 61 games over the last three seasons. Billups played this past season for the Detroit Pistons after returning to the team he led to the 2004 title. He was the third pick in the 1997 draft by the Boston Celtics. He also played for Toronto, Denver, Minnesota, New York and the Los Angeles Clippers. (STATS, 11:31pm)

News: Billups announced Tuesday that he will retire after 17 NBA seasons, Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears reports. Impact: The Pistons declined the second and final year of a contract option that would have paid him $2.5 million next season, leaving the veteran with a presumably quiet market. Billups is best known for his time with the Detroit Pistons, during which he won the 2004 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award, and earned the nickname, "Mr. Big Shot." If he chooses, he'll likely be afforded opportunities in either coaching or broadcasting, but his days as a fantasy commodity are officially over.(RotoWire, )
