News: Lopez will likely only practice once a day during training camp, the New York Post's Tim Bontemps reports. Impact: He will practice in the evening session Saturday, which will be one hour long and will be of the non-contact variety. The Nets are understandably being very careful with Lopez, but the expectation is that the training wheels will come off to some extent once the regular season begins. Coach Lionel Hollins always rode Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph pretty hard in Memphis, and although Mason Plumlee might be one of the team's best players, Lopez is undoubtedly the Nets' best player when healthy, so Hollins will likely ride him as much as possible.(RotoWire, )

News: Lopez (foot) played 5-on-5 Monday for the first time since undergoing surgery in March, the New York Daily News reports. Impact: Lopez continues to work back from a broken foot and ankle tear that cut his season short after just 17 games. It was the second time in three seasons that he suffered a major foot injury, but he said recently that he feels better than ever and does not expect to be restricted. Of course, Lopez is a significant fantasy risk at this point, but when healthy he's arguably the top offensive center in the league. Prior to going down last season, Lopez was averaging a career-best 20.7 points to go with 6.0 boards and 1.8 blocks. He also shoots a high percentage from the field, as well as the free throw line.(RotoWire, )
