News: Allen is expected to play more minutes at power forward and center this season, NBA.com reports. "We think he's ready to step in and play more minutes at two different positions," Pacers President Larry Bird said. "This is a great opportunity for him to play night in and night out at a high level."
Impact: Allen averaged 17 minutes per game last season. The departure of Roy Hibbert, David West, and Luis Scola certainly opens up the frontcourt playing time. Allen will have to compete with incumbent Ian Mahinmi and newcomer Jordan Hill, as well as appointed power forward Paul George. Allen is a tremendous offensive rebounder with some passing skill and a tinge of shooting range. The increased role should place him on the radar of deep leagues that use offensive rebounds as a category.
