It's rivalry week!
There aren't many better nights in the NBA each season than when the Lakers and Celtics get together. Thursday night, Kobe Bryant the Lakers waltzed into the Garden and captured an 88-87 overtime victory over Ray Allen and the Celtics. The two teams will battle again in LA later in the year.
The up and under
Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo finds a way to get past Lakers power forward Pau Gasol and score a bucket during Thursday night's overtime loss at home.
The Ty that binds
Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson is able to elude Warriors shooting guard Brandon Rush and get himself a bucket in Denver's 109-101 loss at home to Golden State. Lawson had a game-high 10 assists to go along with his 11 points.
Where's the D?
No wonder Steve Nash was able to shoot 7 for 7 Thursday night in the Suns' 96-89 loss at home to the Rockets. The recently named All-Star used his perfect shooting night to score 14 points for Phoenix, to go along with a game-high 13 assists.
I've got this one!
Rockets guard Kevin Martin is passing this ball to me, right? Well, it looks like it's coming at me, that's for sure. Oh well, Kevin had more important things to do Thursday than dish the rock to you, the reader. He was too busy putting up his worst scoring night of the season, registering just two points against Phoenix. Luckily, the Rockets didn't need him to score, as they used a huge fourth quarter to defeat the Suns 96-89.
This won't end well ... for the rim
Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook throws down a huge dunk early in the game against the Kings. Westbrook had his typical solid game, scoring 33 points on 15 of 26 shooting. However, it wasn't enough on this night, as OKC was upset by Sacramento 106-101.
I don't see why you're high-fiving, fellas, you didn't do so well Thursday night in SacTown. Kevin Durant scored 27 points and James Harden added 17, but the Thunder collapsed in the fourth quarter and lost to the Kings 106-101.
