The Washington Wizards were eliminated from the playoffs on the road in Game 7, where John Wall went scoreless over his last 19 minutes and missed 11 consecutive shots.
On Tuesday's episode of "The Herd", Colin Cowherd argued that Wall's disappointing finish is further proof that there are as many true superstars in the NBA as we've all been led to believe.
Why are we always focusing on the 'next' superstar
“I really enjoy LeBron James. I don’t care about ‘the next great player’ and the ‘superstar that’s this close to LeBron’ and the ‘better two-way player than LeBron James.’ I just watch him and think ‘I’m so lucky to watch him.’
"I can’t understand why people, and especially media, can’t enjoy the greatness when it’s presented to you. LeBron James, right now, owns the NBA and everybody else is a renter. I’m going to give you a list of players I have been told are ‘this close’ to being better than LeBron. They’re ‘superstars,’ not just ‘stars.’"

"I’m going to give you a list, and I’m going to give you their last playoff game that I witnessed.
"John Wall, 0-for his last 11 shots.
"Paul George. Terrified, 5-for-21.
"Russell Westbrook. Took 18 threes and made five.
"James Harden. 2-for-11, appeared to quit.
"And Kawhi Leonard, he’s hurt.
"They’re ‘the next superstar.’ Gonna ‘take over the league.’ Better ‘two-way players’ than LeBron.”
John Wall came up small in the biggest game of his career
“I’ve been hearing all year about John Wall and I’ll be the first to admit, he had a heck of a year. His best yet.
"I still doubt his maturity, jumping on a scoreboard after Game 6. Kobe, MJ, LeBronwait until they’ve actually won a title.
"But John Wall last night, with seven minutes left, where legends are made, was absolutely terrified. Froze in the headlights, shriveled up, came up small. Could not get the ball out of his hands fast enough to Bradley Beal.”

None of these 'superstars' has delivered when it mattered
“You know what I have heard over the last month from Westbrook and Harden and Kawhi and Wall and this guy and that guy? I’ve seen shrinking, I’ve seen bad judgement. I’ve seen terrified. I’ve seen ‘get the ball out of my hands.’ Six weeks I’ve seen it.
"One player - DeMar DeRozan - in the playoffs had the guts to be totally honest. Remember, his team got swept by LeBron James. DeMar DeRozan, the only honest guy playing in this league: ‘If we had LeBron on our team too, we would have won.’"

These heirs to LeBron's throne all revealed themselves to be pretenders
"Don’t fight it folks, enjoy it. These guys are pretenders.
"Westbrook, 5-for-18 on threes. Wall, ‘I don’t want anywhere near the ball.’ Paul George, shrinkage. Harden, ‘I quit.’ Kawhi, ‘I’m hurt.’
"Last night at the end of that game Bradley Beal was the best guard on the floor. Isaiah Thomas was the hottest, Marcus Smart was the shrewdest, and John Wall was the most absolutely scared to death. He didn’t want any part of that moment.
"… This is wearing me out. Stop trying to engineer superstars. Don’t tell me Rory McIlroy’s going to be this, enjoy Tiger while he is this. Instead, all we did was complain about Tiger for 10 years while he changed the sport."
