News: Christmas was waived by the Cavaliers on Friday, Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Impact: Releasing Christmas puts the Cavaliers at 17 players, bringing them two cuts away from the regular season roster maximum of 15. Christmas last played with the Suns during the 2013-14 season, when he participated in 31 games and finished with averages of 2.3 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.3 assists over six minutes per game. Considering he spent a whole year away from the NBA, it wouldn't be surprising if he failed to garner any further interest before the regular season starts up. Christmas may opt to begin the season in the NBA D-League in hopes of receiving a contract offer later in the year.

News: Christmas signed with the Cavaliers on Thursday, Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Impact: Christmas last saw NBA action in 2013-14 with the Suns, playing in 31 games with the team. The 29-year-old will give the Cavaliers some depth in training camp, but it seems highly unlikely he will be able to earn a roster spot.
