Regan Smith on baby watch as Ty Dillon subs in No. 7

Ty Dillon is subbing for Regan Smith today in the No. 7 Tommy Baldwin Racing Chevrolet at Chicagoland Speedway.

But Smith has a good excuse to be skipping the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400, the first of 10 races in the season-ending Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Smith is back in North Carolina at his wife’s side as she prepares to give birth to the couple’s child.

No question, Smith did the right thing by staying close.
