Rookie Kyle Larson started from the pole in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway, but his night got off to a horrible start as he got dumped by Clint Bowyer going into the first turn on the first lap.

Larson took the green flag to start the race and drifted high to block Brad Keselowski, and when he came down, Bowyer hit him. Larson’s Chip Ganassi-owned Chevrolet spun and went to the top of the track, though Larson kept it off the wall.

It was accidental contact to be sure, but hardly expected on the very first turn of the first lap. And it dropped Larson from first to 43rd
