NASCAR decision to limit driver participation meets mixed reaction
NASCAR's announcement earlier Wednesday to limit participation of Premier Series drivers in the XFINITY Series and Camping World Truck Series beginning next season was met with some mixed reaction on social media.
Chase Elliott, for instance, did not seem to agree with the decision that is supposed to allow younger drivers -- such as himself -- a better chance to shine in NASCAR's lower-division series.
Sprint Cup regular Brad Keselowski also questioned the decision, saying he actually believes the XFINITY Series already "has a very healthy identity for a number two; when compared to other sports."
Some drivers, like Erik Jones, were indifferent.
And still others -- such as Jeb Burton and Eric McClure, younger drivers who most stand to possibly benefit from the new rules -- embraced it.
Here is a sampling of what was out there in terms of reaction on social media, with Roush Fenway Racing offering the final word -- for now.
Hear this a lot. I actually think the series has a very healthy identity for a number 2; when compared to other sports. https://t.co/gJiPZ6eIBS

I enjoyed the opportunity to race those guys as often as I could, you'd race em anyway at some point if you move on. Makes you better. https://t.co/jerdPNgDt9

I'd pay for a ticket to watch a young guy try to beat them boys, you best believe it. https://t.co/8DCohodArM
