Fans weigh in: Kevin Harvick has best chance to overcome Round of 8 deficit

We asked you, the fans, to weigh in with your thoughts on which driver outside the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup cutoff has the best chance of making the Championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway in three weeks.

The results are in, and in dominating fashion, Kevin Harvick won with 65 percent of the vote.

Harvick has never been eliminated from the current format of the Chase and the fact that he’s been so dominant at Phoenix International Raceway bodes well for his chance to advance. He's won five of the last six races in the desert, so if he can't overcome his 16-point deficit, he has a great chance of visiting Victory Lane.

Joey Logano brought in the second highest total at 19 percent, followed by Carl Edwards with 11.

Logano won at Talladega two weeks ago and won at Texas in 2014. He's never won at Phoenix but posted his best finish in last year's Chase race when he came home third. He has the smallest deficit of only four points.

Edwards has won three times at Texas and twice at Phoenix. With a 32-point gap behind the championship cutoff, Edwards enters the final two Round of 8 races in a must-win situation.

Kurt Busch brought in the lowest total with only five percent of the votes. He’s struggled to match the speed of the top drivers in the Chase, so overcoming an 18-point deficit might be difficult.

In order for one of the drivers on the outside of the cutline to move in, one of the three Joe Gibbs Racing drivers – Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, or Matt Kenseth – will have to drop out.

With two races remaining before the championship at Homestead, the intensity should hit its highest in the next two weeks as seven drivers battle for three spots with Jimmie Johnson as the only driver locked into the championship race.
