Fans weigh in: Matt Kenseth responsible for wreck at Phoenix

After Matt Kenseth’s came down on Alex Bowman entering Turn 1 on the initial overtime restart, it seemed like everyone involved accepted a portion of the blame for the incident.

His teammate Kyle Busch said, “essentially, I guess I wrecked a teammate.” Chris Osborne, Kenseth's spotter, took to Twitter to accept the blame for the accident and apologize to all of the fans of the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team.

Alex Bowman was apologetic in his post-race interview and hated that it came down to something like that at the end of the race.

Everyone took a little bit of the blame, so we figured we’d see who the fans thought was most responsible for the accident.

With 36 percent of the vote, Kenseth himself received the highest margin, followed by his spotter with 24 percent.

Kyle Busch came in right behind Kenseth’s spotter with 22 percent of the vote since he was the driver who got Bowman loose heading into Turn 1.

Speaking of Bowman, only four percent of fans put the blame on him for making contact with Kenseth.

About 13 percent of the fans decided to take the high road and said that nobody should be blamed for the crash and that it was just racing.

Finally, one percent of fans said that this was Michael McDowell’s fault because he blew a tire with two laps to go and caused the race to go to overtime.

No matter which way you lean, Kenseth won’t be competing for his second Sprint Cup title after it appeared he had the win at Phoenix locked up.

Here’s to this weekend’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway being as exciting as the end of Sunday’s event was.
