It’s a big weekend for rookie Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Daniel Suárez.

He will drive a Subway-sponsored No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota for the first time in this Sunday’s Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., but that’s only part of what’s got him pumped.

He’ll also appear in a national Subway commercial for the first time.

“I’m really excited to have Subway onboard for this weekend, the first race of four races for this 2017 reason,” Suárez said Friday at ACS. “In the last few weeks, we filmed a commercial – a national commercial – with them that’s going to air on TV this coming Sunday, in our first race together.”

Suárez became the first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR national touring series championship when he won the XFINITY Series title last year. The native of Monterrey, Mexico moved up to the Cup Series this year to replace Carl Edwards when Edwards decided to step away from racing in the offseason.

Now Suárez is replacing Edwards as a Subway ad pitchman. He said he filmed his first commercial in both English and Spanish.

“You know, I spent a lot of hours trying to do my lines right in English. In Spanish, I spent 10 minutes,” said Suárez, laughing. “I thought that was pretty funny.”

Check out the trailer for the commercial below, although you’ll have to wait for during the race on Sunday to see the actual finished product. Suárez, however, obviously is pleased with how it turned out.

“(Thursday) was the first time I was able to see the final version of the commercial,” he said. “It turned out great. So I’m super excited about that.”
