76 days until the Daytona 500: 1998 victory the greatest of Dale Earnhardt's 76 wins

Sure, it’s a festive time of the year, with the holidays just around the corner.

But for impatient race fans, Dec. 12th means there are only 76 more days until the Daytona 500 airs on FOX.

And if you’re counting down the days like a lot of folks are, it’s worth noting that no car carrying the No. 76 has ever won a NASCAR Premier Series race. Not a single one.

The best result for the No. 76 came at Nashville Speedway in 1959, where Larry Frank finished second in his Carolina Plating-sponsored Chevrolet.

But there was one driver who won 76 Premier Series races in his first-ballot NASCAR Hall of Fame career. You might have heard of him: His name was Dale Earnhardt. And one of those 76 victories came in the 1998 Daytona 500.

So keep counting down, race fans: It won’t be too long before we’re back at Daytona.
