Baldwin Racing secures sponsorship
Tommy Baldwin Racing is proving that with perseverance anything is possible.
Prerace coverage from Kansas begins June 5 at 12:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
After operating with a limited budget for the last three seasons, Baldwin has battled as a start-and-park squad but has now secured solid sponsorship which will enable the upstart team to run entire races for the remainder of the season.
Golden Corral, which came on board the No. 36 Chevrolet with Baldwin and driver Dave Blaney at Daytona, has signed up for an additional 19 races for the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. Big Red Soda, which initially ran a one-off deal at Martinsville Speedway with TBR through its subsidiary All Sport Body Quencher, has committed to five additional dates. And current sponsor Accell Construction will continue with TBR as a primary for the first Kansas race and as an associate for both New Hampshire races and the Texas Chase race in November.
“I really appreciated the cooperation we’ve received from NASCAR which enables us to finally get our race team off the ground,” Baldwin said. “When we’ve approached NASCAR for help, they’ve been there to support us every step of the way. All the hard work we’ve put into this has finally paid off and allowed us to chase our dreams.”
The team is currently 33rd in the point standings. Although a driver change could be made for the road courses, Baldwin expects to continue the season with Blaney behind the wheel.
