Lineup Includes Return of Popular INSIDE WINSTON CUP Show with Michael Waltrip, Ken Schrader and Johnny Benson

Speedvision president Jim Liberatore put an end to months of speculation, unveiling the network¿s NASCAR programming schedule this week in preparation for Monday¿s launch of the SPEED Channel. ¿We think we¿ve put together a package of in-depth, behind-the-scenes, original programming that will make Speed Channel a regular destination for NASCAR fans,¿ Liberatore said. ¿As a network, we have a strong history of tapping into a passion unique to motor sports, designing programming aimed at the true experts -- the fans. Teaming with NASCAR to design the sports world¿s first ¿channel within a channel,¿ the SPEED Channel is now home to NASCAR TV.¿
NASCAR TV, which kicks off Feb. 11 with a 2002 NASCAR Season Preview, compliments SPEED Channel¿s current programming schedule which spans the high-adrenaline, vehicle enthusiast categories of auto racing, automotive and motorcycle. Here¿s a quick look at what makes up NASCAR TV on the SPEED Channel:
  • The popular Inside Winston Cup returns on Mondays at 7 p.m. (ET), and again will be hosted by Allen Bestwick, featuring NASCAR Winston Cup Series drivers Michael Waltrip, Ken Schrader and Johnny Benson. The program gives fans in-depth access to series drivers and insider analysis of what¿s going on in the pits and on the track.
  • Trackside, one of SPEED Channel¿s new, original programs, will air on Fridays and Saturdays, bringing live reports from the track where NASCAR is competing during that week.
  • Racing Across America is another new program designed to highlight NASCAR¿s weekly racing programs around the country. The network is targeting 39 events and will include programs from the Busch North Series, Featherlite Modified Series, Featherlite Southwest Series, Goody's Dash Series, Hills Bros All Pro Series, RE/MAX Challenge Series and the NASCAR Winston West Series.
  • Winston Cup Wednesday will offer a unique screen-within-a-screen viewing approach, breaking down the previous week¿s race, getting commentary from the drivers and crews in the middle of the action.
  • Paying tribute to NASCAR¿s rich history, the SPEED Channel will offer two programs -- Men Behind the Wrenches and Past Champions -- that will use archive footage to take a look at crew chiefs and drivers that helped make NASCAR what it is today.
  • Beginning after Daytona, 2001 Winston Cup will offer fans a look at a race from the previous year as teams prepare to run at that same track for 2002.
  • The new blocks of NASCAR programming will be anchored by Totally NASCAR, which airs Monday through Friday from 6:30 p.m. ¿ 7 p.m. (ET). NASCAR Victory Lane and NASCAR Tech also will remain, along with Speed Channel favorites like Legends of Motorsport, Stock Car Legends and the weekly racing news program -- Speed News. ¿Through Speed Channel and NASCAR TV, we can now deliver even more NASCAR excitement to our fans and better support our broadcast partners by driving tune-in to their televised events,¿ said Paul Brooks, vice president of broadcasting for NASCAR. ¿NASCAR TV is the ideal compliment to the live event coverage currently produced by FOX/FX and NBC/TNT, and we welcome SPEED Channel to the NASCAR family.¿ Speed Channel, which celebrated its sixth anniversary in January 2002, is the first and only 24-hour cable network devoted exclusively to motor sports and the human fascination for speed. Speed Channel is home to much of the world¿s marquee racing events including CART, F1, Classic Cars, LeMans, the American LeMans Series, World Rally and car shows from around the globe. Currently seen in more than 45 million homes, Speed Channel was acquired by Fox Cable Networks Group in July 2001.
