Phoenix Racing lands sponsor for Duel
Phoenix Racing will be sponsored by Security Benefits in Thursday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Gatorade Duel qualifying race at Daytona International Speedway.
The No. 9 entry, driven by Bill Elliott, added the sponsorship Wednesday night and was putting the logos on the car Thursday morning.
"It happened last night late," Elliott said. "[Team owner] James [Finch] has been working hard to put this deal together. I think it's a three-race deal, hopefully it will turn into a long-term deal."
The Gatorade Duel 150-mile qualifying races will set the final starting lineup for Sunday's season-opening Daytona 500. The sponsorship will continue for the opening three races of the season.
