Tryson to assist Labonte's team
JTG Daugherty has an alliance and shares a shop with Michael Waltrip Racing, Truex's organization.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup crew chief is not replacing Labonte’s crew chief, Frank Kerr, but is rather aiding the team as it works to improve its performace.
The team posted a statement on the move on its Facebook page.
“Pat Tryson is a consistent NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase (for the Sprint Cup) crew chief who is in transition,” JTG Daugherty Racing co-owner Tad Geschickter said. “While he is looking for his next crew chief opportunity, Pat has agreed, with the blessing of our partners at Michael Waltrip Racing, to help JTG Daugherty Racing and crew chief Frank Kerr try to improve our results.”
Labonte, the 2000 NASCAR Cup champion, is currently 28th in the standings.
