FOX Sports, FSN & FX Combine For 20 Sports Emmy Nominations

NASCAR on FOX: — NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Action on FOX heats up "sin city" this weekend, live on Sunday, March 13 (2:00 PM ET) from Las Vegas International Speedway. Coverage begins from inside the "Hollywood Hotel," NASCAR on FOX's traveling prerace studio and recent recipient of a 2004 Sports Emmy Award nomination, now situated within the friendly confines of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and hosted by Chris Myers, analyst Jeff Hammond and special guest Darrell Waltrip. In this week's show, Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Dodge and graduate of the engineering school at Purdue University takes viewers on a quick tour of Nevada's top sightseeing attraction and one of America's seven modern civil engineering wonders, the Hoover Dam. Plus, we'll check out Michael Waltrip's recent race of another sort, the Las Vegas Marathon, which he completed in order to raise funds for Kyle and Pattie Petty's Victory Junction Gang Camp, founded to enrich the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Also, reigning NASCAR NEXTEL Cup champion Kurt Busch and his brother Kyle, both products of Las Vegas, discuss racing on their hometown track. And last year's Las Vegas winner, Matt Kenseth, goes 10 laps with Myers.

DW PICKS HIS LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY 'HOT SPOTS' — Fifty years ago, NASCAR made its first-ever visit to Las Vegas, a 200 mile dirt-track event held at the Las Vegas Jockey Club Horse Track, a track of land currently occupied by the Las Vegas Hilton. NASCAR on FOX analyst Darrell Waltrip is more familiar with the "hot spots" at the current site, the 1.5-mile oval Las Vegas Motor Speedway. "You'll see a lot of contact in the middle of Turns One and Two," says Waltrip. "If you come into Turn One alongside another car, the key is to work on that car aerodynamically, especially with a small rear spoiler."
