COMMENT: The bad news last week for the No. 99 car? Burton was the worst of the four Roush Racing veteran drivers at Rockingham. The good news? That was still good enough for a respectable 12th-place showing. Now Burton comes to Las Vegas, where he¿s been the dominant driver in the track¿s short history. He didn¿t finish worse than second in the first three years of the track ¿ a run highlighted by back-to-back wins in 1999 and 2000.

COMMENT: Burton¿s Roush Racing teammate is the only driver to finish in the top 10 in each of the five races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Martin¿s average finish since NASCAR started coming to Sin City? A healthy fourth. Oh, and for good measure, he set the race record back in 1998 when he won the inaugural Las Vegas 400. So look for Martin to start the 2003 campaign with three straight top-10 finish.

COMMENT: With Brad Parrott calling the shots, Jarrett followed up his 10th at Daytona with his second career win at Rockingham. Now here comes Las Vegas to keep the good times rolling for Jarrett. He¿s finished in the top 10 in each of his last three trips to the Strip. Oh, and Parrott likes Vegas, too. He earned his first Busch win from the pole here in 2002 with Burton.

COMMENT: Busch hasn¿t exactly torn it up in his hometown of Las Vegas, finishing outside of the top 10 in both of his races here. But what he lacks in the way of success at this track he more than makes up for with his current hot streak. Busch has been second in both of the races so far this year and has finished no worse than sixth in any of his last seven races. When you combine that with a strong desire to win at home, it¿s a pretty safe bet his run is going to continue in Nevada.

COMMENT: We¿re still waiting for Benson to build on his first career Winston Cup victory (last November at Rockingham). Since then, he¿s managed to put together four top-20 showings, but none better than 13th. We¿re saying that streak ends Sunday here. In the five races at Las Vegas, Benson has finished fourth twice and sixth once. And all of those finishes came before he figured out what it takes to win on this circuit.

Last week

We¿re all about personal responsibility here at Fox Watch. And with that in mind, here¿s a list of people we¿re blaming for our showing at Rockingham on Sunday.
  • : If the crafty veteran doesn¿t nudge his way past down the stretch at Rockingham ¿ not once, but twice ¿ we¿re looking at two victories in as many weeks.

  • ¿s crew: At one point late in the race, we were dreaming of a 1-2 finish for Fox Watch with Busch and Labonte duking it out for the checkered flag. But as it turned out, Labonte didn¿t have quite enough fuel to make it to the finish line and had to settle for 16th after fighting his way back into contention after falling off the lead lap.
  • .: Separate fender benders with and involving the No. 8 knocked those Fox Watch favorites off the lead lap. And at one point or another, both were in the top five. But we¿re not going to hold a grudge against the aforementioned folks. After all, Busch and still came through with top 10s for us, bringing our total for the season to four.
