Wednesday WAG Of The Week: Katie Kenseth
Our "Wednesday WAG of the Week" is married to a real winner. With Matt Kenseth capturing yet another checkered flag on Sunday in Chicago, here's a look at the WAG who's no stranger to Victory Lane ... Katie Kenseth.
The two actually both grew up in Cambridge, Wisconsin, but weren't officially introduced until 15 years ago. They spoke about that meeting in a recent interview with Nate Ryan of USA TODAY:
Katie Kenseth: "I worked at a gas station in Cambridge, and he and his friend used to come in, and he had long hair. I was 13 or 14 and used to think, 'Oh my God, he's really cute.' But he was so shy, he'd never talk to me. Then, about eight years later, we met at a wedding."
Matt Kenseth: "I was in the wedding with her sister, and - by the way, I've never said this before - I walked into the reception, saw Katie across the room and was like, 'I don't know who that is, but that's the girl I'm going to marry.' Julie got all mad and said, 'That's my sister!' and started yelling at me. I was like, 'All right, that's cool. We'll be related.' I chased her around all night. I finally got her to dance - and by the way, I don't dance - and then I couldn't remember her name."
He finally did remember her name and the two were married in 2000. Katie and their two daughters - Kaylin (4) & Grace (2) - have been travelling more with Matt this season. In the same USA TODAY interview, they also offered a glimpse at their typical weekend.
Katie Kenseth: "I get to the racetrack, and it's kind of fun to relax, and Matt's always like, 'Let's go find something to do.' In Pocono, they were done early on Saturday, and we went with the McMurrays to an amusement park, and Matt rode Snoopy rides all afternoon and had a great time. We'll go to the Crayola Crayon Factory or the American Girl Store. Usually, we take them to enjoy wherever we're at, if there's a children's museum or a park."
Matt Kenseth: "It's fun playing with them until they're in bed. I watch a lot more Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Yo Gabba Gabba and Elmo instead of watching a movie. It's never boring because they don't let you sit around very much. They just grow up way too fast. Kaylin is 4, and she walks around like she's 12. It goes by so quick."
The way things have been going this season, we wouldn't be surpirsed to see the entire Kenseth clan in Victory Lane again before the Chase is over. Here are a few more pictures of Katie and the family. For a full gallery on FOXSports.com, CLICK HERE.
