Tweets of the Week: Martinsville Mayhem, Presidential Tweets & RCR Payback?
It was certainly a wild weekend at Martinsville Speedway.
From teammates getting into it on the track and in the media, to flying sledgehammers, the NASCAR Twittersphere certainly had a lot to talk about this weekend.
So, without further ado, it's the Tweets of the Week!
Before the hitting the track, NASCAR heartthrobs Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Danica Patrick took in some of the nice Southern Virginia countryside.
Still recovering from a season-ending leg injury, Tony Stewart has taken up technological innovation as a hobby.
Who needs a Halloween mask when you've got a mug like this?
J.J. Yeley ran into a young fan on his way back from Martinsville. It's probably safe to say one little boy is going to be cheering on Yeley from now on.
Stopped at Subway to get a sandwich, a little boy told me he liked my Chevy hat!! Now I dont have a hat anymore. He was a nice litte boy.— JJ Yeley (@jjyeley1) October 27, 2013
Saturday's dramatic end to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race certainly set the NASCAR Twittersphere afire. Who knew a sledgehammer draw so much attention?
It's sure been a big year for the ole sledge hammer. First Miley's video, now making headlines in NASCAR. Who would've thunk it!!!— Clint Bowyer (@ClintBowyer) October 27, 2013
OK. After watching todays SLEDGEHAMMER replay, its a little overblown. It had little effort. No medals were awarded.— joey meier (@2Spotter) October 26, 2013
Back from vacation, Nelson Piquet Jr. couldn't help but think back to his run-in with Richard Childress Racing's Brian Scott earlier this year in Richmond.
Been in Brasil so just got a chance to watch reply from this weeks races. Seems like the RCR guys are consistent with there behavior.— Nelson Piquet Jr. (@NelsonPiquet) October 27, 2013
While Harvick remained in the No. 29 car for Sunday's race, he struggled throughout the day with motor issues, which led some to speculate about the source of the problem.
The always-attentive Stewart-Haas Racing couldn't help but notice something during Sunday's race.
This Johnson dude is leading again. He should really stay after this racing gig. Could probably make a living at it.— Stewart-Haas Racing (@StewartHaasRcng) October 27, 2013
Think you had a bad day? Try not to ask rookie sensation Kyle Larson about his day...
What a bad last couple of hours. Engine blew up, got a speeding ticket, now my cat just puked and pooped in the car.— Kyle Larson (@KyleLarsonRacin) October 27, 2013
How popular was Jeff Gordon's win Sunday at Martinsville? The fans that once booed him in waves waited around to watch his NASCAR Victory Lane interview. Showing his gratitude, Gordon made it worth their while.
Great win yesterday! Thanks to all the fans for your support. Looking forward to these next three races.— Jeff Gordon (@JeffGordonWeb) October 28, 2013
Gordon's is burnout was pretty great too.
Oh yeah, Gordon's win also caught the attention of some guy named Bill...
Jimmie Johnson didn't dominate the day as expected, but the five-time champ is focused on the bigger picture.
All those Martinsville hot dogs were a great idea throughout the weekend, right? Monday morning, not so much.
Monday after Martinsville - the day when many who work in NASCAR wonder why eating 10 hot dogs in a day seemed like a good idea at the time.— nascarcasm (@nascarcasm) October 28, 2013
Talk about awkward sibling moments, the Blaney's just had one of their own, with Ryan shedding a little light on his 'type' of woman.
Got a little nervous when someone said to me "google Ryan Blaneys girlfriend." Good news everyone, it was just me in the picture. Awkward.— Emma Blaney (@EmmaBlaney) October 28, 2013
Haha that got blown out of proportion.... Fast. JOKES EVERYONE.— Ryan Blaney (@RyanBlaney22) October 28, 2013
As always, those in the NASCAR world are keeping FOX Sports' Steve Byrnes in their thoughts. Get well soon, Steve!
