Justin Allgaier pays tribute to his friend and teammate Jason "LEFturn" Leffler.
The NASCAR community races on this weekend with heavy hearts, mourning the loss of Jason Leffler who died Wednesday night after a crash in a 410 sprint car race at Bridgeport (N.J.) Speedway.
Leffler, 37, is remembered as a great racer, an even better friend and teammate, and a doting father to 5-year-old son Charlie Dean.
"Jason Leffler was a great racer and an even better friend," Tony Stewart said. "He loved racing, especially open-wheel racing, and that’s a passion we both share… My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, especially his son, Charlie, who Jason loved more than anything."
Like Stewart, many drivers respected Leffler’s unwavering love for racing and little Charlie. They will honor his life and career this weekend at Michigan International Speedway by running special decals.
All three Turner Scott Motorsports Nationwide cars are running "LEFturn" above the door to honor their former teammate. Leffler ran the full 2011 season in the No. 38 Turner Scott Motorsports entry, scoring 12 top 10s and finishing sixth in the Championship.
During that 2011 season, Great Clips was the primary sponsor on Leffler’s car, but is now the primary sponsor on the No. 5 JR Motorsports car. Leffler’s dear friend Brad Sweet will be wheeling that machine.
