The first race of the Chase is upon us!
After a week full of drama, NASCAR has no plans to let controversy rain on its parade. Rain, however, may rain on NASCAR's parade at Chicagoland Speedway.
9:00 a.m. -- With a 70% chance of rain in Joiet, Ill. today, rain will be the topic of discussion for much of the day, as teams and driver watch the radar in advance of Sunday's GEICO 400.

9:15 a.m. -- Stewart-Haas Racing crew chief Tony Gibson isn't letting a little bit of rain get his hopes down.

11:10 a.m. -- The fans at Chicagoland won't let a little weather get them down. They're ready to see their favorite drivers do what they do best.
Some crew members are waiting out the weather by resting up - they'll need it for the long day ahead.
11:50 a.m. -- We know today's driver/crew chief meeting is important, as NASCAR lays out new restart rules, but Chicagoland Speedway set out the red carpet for drivers.
12:10 p.m. -- NASCAR did in fact lay out the new restart rule in the drivers meeting, raising a few questions from drivers.
12:30 p.m. -- Talking with the media for the first time since last weekend's race, team owner Rick Hendrick was not happy with what he saw in Richmond.
1:25 p.m. -- Promoting responsible drinking this weekend, it seems like Kevin Harvick has found himself a designated driver.
3:15 p.m. -- After a lengthy delay for rain, the cars have been pushed to the starting grid and opening ceremonies are underway at Chicagoland Speeday.
