Pocono Wrap-Up: Kahne Wins, Kvapil Calls Out Danica
33-year-old Kahne powered past Gordon on the penultimate lap of the 160 lap race to score his second victory of the season, which virtually locks him into the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
"I went into (Turn) 2 and it was either go for it and make it work, or not," Kahne said in victory lane. "And good as our Farmers Insurance Chevrolet was all day long, I thought we could make that work on the outside. I just needed to clear him, and when we got to Turn 2, I was able to do that."
While the top five drivers found success at "The Tricky Triangle", many others did not.
For the second time in three races, a crash would end Danica Patrick's day. Danica lost control of her car in Turn 2 and made contact with Travis Kvapil, wrecking both cars. Jeff Burton and Paul Menard were also collected.
Kvapil took to Twitter to express his displeasure with Danica, and if you're wondering what "FIB" means, check out urban dictionary (viewer discretion is advised). We'll chalk it up as just another disagreement between Kvapil and the Illinois-native Danica.
Boy! 3 bad runs in a row. The boys are digging hard and we were a ton better today than Indy. Thank god we're off flat tracks for a while.— Clint Bowyer (@ClintBowyer) August 4, 2013
Fast flat tracks have been unkind to us... Missing something 1 left... #nofun— Kevin Harvick (@KevinHarvick) August 4, 2013
Proud of the progress @rchilders55 and our Aaron's guys made on our car for today's race. We are headed in the right direction.— Mark Martin (@55MarkMartin) August 4, 2013
