Kenny Wallace wins Russ Wallace Memorial dirt race
Kenny Wallace celebrates with his family in Victory Lane at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill. after winning the third annual Russ Wallace Memorial dirt car race.
While Stewart racing back to Victory Lane at Tri-City Motor Speedway in Auburn, Mich., NASCAR on FOX analyst Kenny Wallace was competing in the third annual Russ Wallace Memorial at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill., against the likes of Ken Schrader, Austin and Ty Dillon, Justin Allgaier and more than 30 other dirt racers.
The event honors the memory of Russ Wallace, the patriarch of the Wallace brothers Rusty, Mike and Kenny. Before his three sons made their names in NASCAR's top three series, Russ Wallace was making the family name well-known on the dirt tracks of the Midwest. Russ passed away in 2011.
A prolific dirt racer, Kenny Wallace races at a variety of dirt tracks multiple times a week. However, winning Friday night's race honoring his father was truly a special moment. Also a prolific Twitter user, Wallace shared his moment last night with all of his followers.
WINNING Dads race tonight at @TriCity11 was great, But racing neXt to "Ray Walsh and Rusty Grifaw" for the win made the WIN— Kenny Wallace (@Kenny_Wallace) July 19, 2014
One more thing I want you all to know, These races are "VERY HARD" to WIN, Schrader and the Dillon boys along with Algaier will tell you— Kenny Wallace (@Kenny_Wallace) July 19, 2014
I did ALOT of praying before heat races and the dash ....... “@roadie6: And you know your dad is smiling down on you. :)”— Kenny Wallace (@Kenny_Wallace) July 19, 2014
