Carl Edwards Goes Old, Old, Old School In A 1901 Ford
He says it's the coolest car he's ever driven.
Check out Carl Edwards as he gets behind the wheel of Henry Ford's 1901 Sweepstakes race car. The car carried Ford to victory in the first and only race he ever drove (versus Alexander Winton on October 10, 1901, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan).
Said Edwards, "...I am telling you that is one of the scariest things I have ever done. I don't know how those guys did that because we were only going what, eight miles per hour? They drove this thing near 70 mph back in 1901. That is just insane."
Coming from a guy who once did this at Talladega, that's saying something.
