News: The Ontario County (N.Y.) Police Department is in the final stages of its investigation into the death of Kevin Ward Jr., but there is no timetable yet for its completion, a department spokesperson told foxsports.com Monday morning. Impact: The investigation is drawing to a close, but a spokesman stopped short of putting a timetable on when it would be complete and when the findings would be made public. Stewart has missed the last three races since the death of Ward at a New York dirt track a few weeks ago. He could potentially face criminal charges, depending on what this investigation finds. There's no word at present regarding Stewart's status for this weekend's race at Atlanta, but it would be unlikely that he will race given the ongoing investigation and his absence from the last three events.(RotoWire, )

News: Stewart could still face criminal charges for running down Kevin Ward Jr. with his sprint car, even if the three-time NASCAR champion didn't mean to kill Ward, hurt him or even scare him, the Associated Press reports. Impact: Local authorities are still examining evidence and looking into circumstances around last Saturday night's tragic accident at a New York dirt track. Stewart has been interviewed twice and investigators have said that no charges will be filed at this time. However, legal experts indicate that Stewart could still face second degree manslaughter charges under New York law if it can be proved that he acted recklessly and caused the death of another person. For now, the investigation continues and it remains to be seen if Stewart will compete this weekend at Michigan International Speedway.(RotoWire, )
