News: Busch finished 40th in the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway Sunday afternoon. Impact: Coming into the GEICO 500 it would have seemed as if Busch and the No. 18 team were safely into the next round of the Chase, but that wasn't the case. Talladega was the wild card that took Busch out. A mid-race wreck that caught up the Joe Gibbs Racing star while he was riding around in the back of the field dealt heavy damage to his Toyota. Busch would finish 49 laps down to the leaders and fall outside the Top 8 drivers who advance to the Eliminator round of the Chase.(RotoWire, )

News: Busch was fastest in Happy Hour practice for the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway Friday. He turned a fast lap of 195.205 mph. Impact: Speeds dropped quite a bit in this final practice as teams worked on qualifying trim and preparing for Saturday's pole qualifying session. Busch topped the scoring pylon by beating out rookie Kyle Larson for the fastest lap for this 50-minute session. The Joe Gibbs Racing star is a Top-5 threat for Sunday's race at Talladega.(RotoWire, )

News: Busch finished fifth in the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Saturday night. Impact: The Joe Gibbs Racing star kept his championship hopes alive with a good performance at CMS. Busch led 41 laps in the early going, but then fell back in the field. He would rally later in the race and work his way quickly forward. Busch crossed the stripe at lap 334 with the fifth spot. It was his eighth Top-5 finish of the season. Busch remains second overall in the Chase standings at 6 points behind leader Joey Logano.(RotoWire, )

News: Busch finished second in the Drive for the Cure 300 Nationwide Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway Friday night. Impact: Busch led 34 laps during the middle stages of the Drive for the Cure 300. He lost valuable track position at the end of the race and had to battle back to challenge for the win. Busch came up short in his attempt to track down leader Brad Keselowski and had to settle for the runner-up finish. It was his series-leading 22nd Top-5 finish of the season.(RotoWire, )
