Three reasons why Johnny Sauter will win Truck Series title
Friday night at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion will be crowned in the first race of Ford Championship Weekend.
Four drivers — Christopher Bell, Matt Crafton, Timothy Peters and Johnny Sauter — come into the Ford EcoBoost 200 tied in points. The driver with the best finish among the four on Friday night will be crowned champion.
Our pick to win tonight is Johnny Sauter. Here are three reasons why we think Sauter will be your 2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion:

Of the four drivers in the Truck Series Chase, Sauter has posted the most victories (3) , the most top fives (11), the most top 10s (18) and the second-fewest DNFs (1) on the 2016 season. Sauter and his GMS Racing team have not only been fast, but they’ve been consistent. The last time Sauter didn’t finish in the top 10 was on the dirt track at Eldora in late July. That’s impressive.

Peaking at the right time
Sauter has been good all season, but he’s been great in the first-ever Truck Chase. Sauter has posted top-10 finishes in each of the Chase races so far and his last three races have been nearly perfect: First place at Martinsville and Texas and second at Phoenix. No one can match that record.

The best thing that could have happened to Sauter happened at Phoenix: William Byron dominated the race but blew an engine at the end and was knocked out of the Chase. Byron, who has won six races, would be the favorite tonight if he was still in the Chase, but he’s out. Sauter doesn’t have to worry about beating Byron tonight; all Sauter has to do is finish ahead of the other three Chasers and he’ll pick up his first Truck Series championship.
