Mitchell day, when some 850 bicyclists pedal their way to the top of the North Carolina mountain on a 103-mile ride that features an 11,000-foot climb. And, of course, there is a NASCAR connection. Bicycling is a favorite way to stay in shape among NASCAR drivers, with Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth and Dale Earnhardt Jr. among those who are true believers in the two-wheeled workouts. Going up on Mt. Mitchell today are NASCAR drivers Jamie McMurray and Josh Wise, two of the most fit athletes in the sport. Looks like fun — and an awful lot of work, too.
